Biography
Dr Nausheen Hoosein is Secondary Curriculum: Teacher Educator in the Department of Education at 51勛圖厙. In this role, she develops the IIS Secondary Curriculum materials and teaches across the Institute’s Secondary Teacher Education Programme (STEP).
Nausheen is an art historian of the premodern Islamic world. Her research focuses on the art, architecture and material culture of Islamic Iberia, and on the reuse and appropriation of spolia in the medieval Mediterranean. She is also a graduate of the Institute’s Secondary Teacher Education Programme.
Before joining the Institute, Nausheen worked in education and academia for over ten years. Her roles included STEP educator for ITREB USA, museum educator at the Dallas Museum of Art, research consultant at the University of Texas at Dallas and, most recently, Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of York. At York, she completed the York Learning and Teaching Award (YLTA) and became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
